A topographic draughtsman, Christoph Eduard Zander, travels with a group of German missionaries in the 1840s to Abyssinia where he lives for the rest of his life.

 

He records the scenery and people of Abyssinia, and includes studies of men and women in traditional clothes and activities, landscapes and vegetation, dwellings, and animals.
