What has the sketchbook been in the past and what can it be today? Together this website demonstrates how sketchbooks cross disciplines, skills, cultures, gender, and class etc., to gain a better understanding.
The sketchbooks appear here not necessarily for the 'name' of the artist, but for the different thinking and seeing through the sketchbook.

A collaboration project by Someguy, the anonymous originator of the 1000 Journals project, San Francisco, US. It was started by leaving sketchbooks at coffee houses, bars, on park benches, and with friends. People made a few entries in the book they received, then passed, or mailed, the book onto someone somewhere else in the world, or around the block. People eventually signed up to receive one. It’s now a web site, book, and documentary available on DVD. Contemporary.
